Routine Dental Exams and Professional Cleanings

Routine six-month cleanings along with a dental check-up are highly recommended to monitor and maintain your oral health.  A comprehensive oral exam is performed to check for decay, gum health (and disease), and oral cancer. At this visit, a screening is also done in order evaluate your periodontal (gum) health, and we professionally remove all the plaque and calculus (tartar) above the gum line.

Digital X-Rays

Periodically, digital x-rays are taken to allow us to monitor areas that cannot be visually accessed (such as in-between the teeth). Our office is equipped with “digital” X-rays that will give us an immediate image, without using film or waiting for developing.  This type of image gives 70% less exposure to radiation than conventional X-rays.

Specialized x-ray heads for even lower radiation

Our X-ray machines are equipped with the “TRU-IMAGE” x-ray positioning system that greatly reduces the need for “retakes” by achieving “perfect alignment.”  The system also reduces scatter radiation by 60-70%, making X-rays in our office safe and effective.

Periodontal Disease

Periodontal problems may lead to tooth loss over time, an as such, if we determine that you do have periodontal disease, we will recommend additional treatment such as deep-cleaning (scaling and root planing)  in order to help bring the gums back to a healthy state.
