Third Molar Extractions

We are able to remove some wisdom teeth in our office.  However, depending on the degree of difficulty, we may refer you to an oral surgeon. This way, IV sedation can be administered and all needed teeth can be removed in one visit.  In most cases, this makes for an overall better patient experience.

Why do wisdom teeth need to be extracted?

There are many reasons that third molars (wisdom teeth) would need to be extracted. These indications include:

  • decay
  • poor position that can lead to gum problems or cavities on neighboring teeth
  • impactions
  • partial eruption

Do all wisdom teeth need to come out?

No. In fact many patients have wisdom teeth that either fit into the mouth without a problem, or remain unerupted and away from the other teeth.
